(Des Moines) Even before the latest weather event it appears the Midwest drought impacts are easing off as of April 4.
Ohio, Indiana, Illinois and the extreme southeastern corner of Iowa are out of the drought. With the exception of the northwestern tip of Iowa, the rest of the state is showing some improvement and officials say will likely improve. Missouri is almost fully recovered from the dry conditions.
Nebraska and Kansas remains under a drought, however eastern Kansas is coming out of it. But it is worse in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, Nevada, Texas, New Mexico, and Arizona.
The drought outlook for April 4 - June 30, 2013 is based primarily on short-, medium-, and long-range forecasts, initial conditions, and climatology.
