(Percival) Two people were hurt in a two-vehicle accident early this morning on Interstate 29 near Percival in Fremont County. The Iowa State says the accident happened around 1:15 a.m. in southbound lanes near the 11.9 mile marker.
According to the report, a southbound semi driven by 32-year-old Nathan D. Fritz, of Mapleton was attempting to pass a car driven by 76-year-old Mary Dion, of Creighton, Nebraska. The semi began to merge back into the right lane and struck Dions’ car causing it to spin out of control. The 1998 Buick Le Sabre entered the median, struck a guardrail, crossed the roadway and entered the west ditch. Dion was able to drive the car out of the ditch and onto the shoulder.
Dion and a passenger, 18-year-old Amber Gray were taken by ambulance to St. Mary’s Hospital.
