(Des Moines) The National Weather Service in Des Moines says there is a slight chance for severe weather today in portions of southwest and west central Iowa. Forecasters say large hail will be the primary threat, though some of these storms may also produce locally heavy rains.
Isolated storms are also in the forecast for Wednesday…severe weather is not anticipated…although a few storms may produce locally heavy rains. The prolonged precipitation may produce several inches of rain in a few locations by late Wednesday. Although flooding is not expected…considerable ponding of water on roads and ditches is possible.
The National Weather Service says snow accumulations Thursday morning through Thursday night may lead to hazardous travel conditions.
