(Des Moines) There’s been a slight improvement, but Iowa still ranks “number six” among states, when it comes to student debt.
“Seventy-percent of our students do end up borrowing a student loan,” Stated Heather Doe, with Iowa College Aide
Doe says sometimes the debt’s an outgrowth of insufficient funds, saved to pay the bills, and sometimes students simply didn’t adjust their spending and living habits during school. The organization has been expanding a financial literacy program in Iowa High Schools, to try and address the debt problems. Governor Branstad had declared April as “Financial Literacy Month.”
