(Greenfield) Adair County is receiving some mental health transitional funds from the state.
“The County is receiving a little over $140,000 to help with the transition and the re-design of the mental health program,” stated Mindy Schaefer, Adair County Auditor. (picured)
The state has changed the way they provide funds for mental health and the way counties tax for it.
“The County doesn’t have enough money to make the transition until everything starts going the way it’s supposed to,” said Shaefer. “So the transition money is really going to help us make it through to the next fiscal year so we can pay the bills to the providers that are serving the mental health clients.”
Schaefer said the legislature told Adair County they were going to act on the funds this year with no guarantee. The Governor signed it last month.
