(Lewis) Iowans will be registering about 235,000 boats between now and April 30.
Bryan Hayes the DNR’s Southwest Iowa fisheries biologist says boat registrations are handled by Iowa’s county recorders in the county where the individual resides. The DNR is using a new system that has a new look and includes registration information, title and decals on one document.
“It will be a lot smoother if boat owners bring in last year’s registration and there are a few items on that old registration that the county recorders will need,” stated Hayes.
Hayes says the boating fees go towards a number of different projects across the state that all have to do with water and boating. Such as; the water trails program, navigation enforcement, aquatic invasive species program and boating education and safety programs.
