(COUNCIL BLUFFS) Iowa Western Community College’s Computer Information Technology Department will be receiving a Computer Science for High School (CS4HS) grant from Google’s Education Group.
According to the Computer Science for High School website, CS4HS is an initiative sponsored by Google to promote Computer Science and Computational Thinking in high school and middle school curriculum. With a gift from Google's Education Group, universities develop 2-3 day workshops for local high school and middle school CS teachers. These workshops incorporate informational talks by industry leaders, and discussions on new and emerging CS curricula at the high school and middle school level.
IWCC will be receiving a $1,400 grant to develop a two-day workshop for high school teachers. No dates for the workshops have been determined at this time. More information on the grant and examples of what other colleges have down with their workshops can be found online at cs4hs.com.
