(Des Moines) The Iowa Department of Revenue releasing a report showing over 23-million gallons of biodiesel was burned in the state last year, three times higher than 2010.
“Bio-diesel can be blended into diesel fuel at up to five-percent and still be considered as diesel fuel with no label indifferences,” stated Iowa Biodiesel Board President Randy Olsen. “So in fact we see many retailers taking advantage of that.”
Olsen says auto manufacturers have taken a lead in designing new engines for a 20-percent biodiesel blend. The report shows 42-percent of diesel sold in the state is blended with domestically grown and refined fuel.
