(Des Moines) Lawmakers advancing a bill Tuesday that raises the ceiling on state tax credits for contributions to private schools. Windsor Heights Republican Chris Hagenow says it’ll open doors for more low-income families to get their kids into private schools.
“Under current law the program is capped at a total amount of $8.75 million and this bill would increase that cap to $12-million dollars.”
The bill passed unanimously through the House Ways and Means Committee Tuesday morning, 25-0.
If signed into law, the bill also allows additional organizations to qualify for those tax credits.
