(Elk Horn) The Iowa State Patrol continues to investigate a violent accident near the 56.5 mile marker at this hour.
Iowa State Patrol Trooper Kyle Mass has confirmed that one person has died in the crash that occurred at around 5:45 a.m.
Trooper Mass told KSOM/KS95 news that the vehicle was traveling westbound on I-80 when for some unknown reason, the driver lost control of the vehicle that left the roadway and entered the north ditch at the 56.6 mile marker. Trooper Mass says the vehicle went end over end and rolled several times ejecting the driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt. The vehicle came to rest on its’ top.
The Iowa State Patrol was assisted by Atlantic Fire and Rescue and Medivac Ambulance .
The victims’ name is being withheld until the family is notified.
