(Harlan) Shelby County Law Enforcement Officials are warning residents not to be a victim to a bail money scam that is being carried out in Shelby County. Authorities say a number of the elderly are getting scam calls.
The two most reported is someone telling them that they are their grandchildren and need bail money. The other is someone calling and explaining they are from Social Security and asking for bank information, date of birth, Social Security number, place of birth and mother’s maiden name.
Shelby County authorities are urging residents to never give personal information over the phone.
