(Des Moines) Before the start of the legislative session it looked like raising the gas tax would be one of the main items up for debate. David Scott with the Iowa Good Roads Association says the whole thing has stalled.
“In just over a month, the funding for the legislature will run out and neither house has talked about the issue…we haven’t even had a sub-committee talk about it, but the problem continues.”
Scott says it’s gotten so bad that counties are now going into debt to do their own patching of roads because the state doesn’t have the money to do it.
