(COUNCIL BLUFFS) A Council Bluffs man was arrested following a pursuit through Cass and Pottawattamie Counties.
The Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office says at around 10:21 pm Wednesday night a broadcast was put out over the radio that Cass County Deputies and the Atlantic Police Department were in pursuit of a black BMW westbound on Highway 6 towards Pottawattamie County traveling in excess of 120 mph.
Deputy Shea with the Pottawattamie County Sheriff’s Office was in the area and positioned himself at 430th Street and Highway 6 and readied his stop sticks for deployment. A second broadcast was made advising that the suspect just went past 510th Street and Highway 6, still traveling in excess of 120 mph.
Deputy Shea then observed the black BMW approach his location at a high rate of speed. He then deployed his stop sticks in the travelled portion of the roadway. As the driver passed Deputy Shea’s location, he observed that the driver had run over the stop sticks with his driver’s side front tire.
Deputy Shea then entered the pursuit. As the vehicle entered Oakland, they were able to observe that the driver side front tire was deflating. The suspect then stopped at Dr. Van Zee Road and Highway 6 and 59.
The driver, 25 year old Zachary White of Council Bluffs, was taken into custody and charged with Felony Eluding, Operating While Intoxicated and numerous other charges.
