(Omaha) Two Nebraskans’ are in custody in connection with the theft of several hundred pounds of copper wire.
The Monona County Sheriff’s Office said at around 4:30 a.m. on Wednesday, they received a report of a suspicious vehicle trespassing in a farm field, before heading south from Blencoe.
The vehicle was stopped by Deputies in Harrision County on Interstate 29 near Mondamin. The report said, 35-year-old Vincent Cerny, and 30-year-old Heather Avila, had been burning copper wire in Monona County. The two face numerous charges after a joint investigation between the Harrison and Monona County Sheriff’s Office connected the two to the copper wire and burglary tools. Law Enforcement say further charges maybe pending.
Cerny and Avila remained at the Monona County Jail on $10,000 bond each.
