SERVICES SET FOR GUTHRIE COUNTY SOLDIER
(Coon Rapids) Funeral Services are this Sunday for a Coon Rapids soldier who died in a roadside bombing in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense says 26-year-old Army Spc. Shawn Muhr of Coon Rapids died January 29. He was in a heavy equipment transport vehicle when it was struck by a roadside bomb. Muhr and another soldier were killed.
The Iowa National Guard says services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Coon Rapids-Bayard High School in Coon Rapids, with burial at Union Cemetery. Visitation will be at the high school.
Shawn Muhr was a member of the 546th Transportation Company, 246th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade based out of Fort Bragg, North Carolina.
Army Specialist Shawn Muhr is surived by his wife and a stepson.
