(Onawa) A western Iowa man has been sentenced to prison for vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
Officials say 28-year-old Lenley Schofield Jr., of Sioux City, was sentenced Monday to 11-years in prison. Schofield Jr. had pled guilty on February 4.
According to the Prosecuting attorney’s Schofield Jr. was driving on Highway 141 near Mapleton in November 2011 when his car veered into an oncoming truck. His passenger, Robert Palmer, died from injuries he suffered in the crash.
Schofield Jr. was also ordered to pay $150,000 to Palmer’s estate.
