(Atlantic) The Atlantic City Council poured over the proposed 2013-2014 budget again last night.
If approved, the new budget totals $10,184,194.00. This is a decrease of about $3.4 million or 25-percent from the total estimated expenditures from the current budget. Atlantic City Administrator Doug Harris says the main reason for this large decrease is the reduction of the Wastewater Budget. The net increase for all other funds totals $69,475 or 1%.
Harris says when it comes to budgets the bottom line for most citizens are their property taxes. Under the proposed Fiscal year 2014 budget the tax levy for the City would be $17.68 which is an increase of .44-cents per one-thousand dollars of valuation, or 2.5 percent.
The budget must be approved by the city council prior to March 15.
