(COUNCIL BLUFFS) An Omaha man faces numerous charges following an accident in Pottawattamie County early Monday morning.
The Iowa State Patrol says 20-year-old Vernon Williams was driving a 1996 Honda Accord eastbound on Interstate 80 at the 2.6 mm when he ran off the road into the eastbound ditch for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck a street lamp and sheared it off at the base. Williams was picked up by another motorist and left the scene of the accident.
The vehicle Williams was driving was reported stolen. Williams was charged with Failure to Maintain Control, No Driver’s License, Leaving the Scene of an Accident, Failure to Report Striking a Fixture, Possession of a Stolen Vehicle, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Burglary Tools.
