(ATLANTIC) A Cherokee man facing numerous charges, including attempted murder, entered a voluntary guilty plea today and was sentenced to prison. 38-year-old Timothy Russell was originally scheduled to go to trial on Tuesday, that trial will no longer take place.
Russell was arrested in September of 2012 for Public Intoxication, Willful Injury, and Assault with Willful Injury. He was taken to the Cass County Jail and released by a magistrate Judge.
During a separate incident shortly after the prior arrest, Russell was arrested on Attempted Murder Charges. Police say Russell was asked to leave an Atlantic residence and he later returned with a hammer and a sharp object and allegedly assaulted one of the residents injuring the victim.
Details on Russell’s prison sentence are not available at this time.
