(GRISWOLD) An early morning fire leveled an unoccupied home southwest of Griswold early Sunday morning.
Cass County Emergency Management Director Mike Kennon says the call came in at around 2:04 a.m of a house fire at 69191 540th Street. Kennon says when Griswold fire fighters arrived the home was completely engulfed in flames. One residence had to be evacuated while fire fighters battled the flames. Griswold firemen were at the scene for about 2 1/2 hours. The cause of the fire has not been released and the State Fire Marshall was called in to investigate.
Griswold Firemen were called back to the scene at around 8:44 p.m.
Sunday to assist Mid American Energy with a gas leak.
The Griswold Fire Department was assisted at the scene early Sunday morning by the Cass County Sheriff's Office and Cass County Emergency Management.
