(Menlo) A southwest Iowa man is dead after he fell through the ice Friday in a farm pond in northern Adair County.
Authorities say 62-year-old James Alan Wallace, of Casey, was fishing on a private farm pond about six-miles southwest of Menlo. His family members reported him missing after he didn't return home Friday afternoon.
Authorities were searching for Wallace when his body was discovered in the water by an Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy where it was believed he had been fishing. Wallace was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Guthrie County Sheriff Office, Stuart Police, Adair County Conservation, Menlo Fire and Rescue and the Adair County Ambulance all assisted at the scene.
