A House committee has approved a measure that would provide some protection for cities when there is an accident involving sledding on City property.
The measure is sponsored by Republican Chip Baltimore, who says sledding is risky to begin with and the law would add the activity to the list of things like bicycling, in line skating and canoeing. They are already activities cities are not liable for if something happens on city property.
Baltimore says the law wouldn’t remove all liability for cities, but he hopes it would make city officials more comfortable letting some sledding take place. The measure is now eligible fore debate by the house.
