(Red Oak) A Montgomery County man is in custody in the Mills County on theft and burglary charges in connection with an incident in Red Oak Monday.
According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, 31-year-old Damian Allen Govig, of Red Oak faces charges of 1st Degree Theft, a Class C-Felony, 2nd Degree Theft, A Class D Felony, and 3rd Degree Burglary, a Class D Felony.
Govig is charged in connection with a burglary at 1971 G Avenue in Red Oak. Govig allegedly broke into a building and loaded items of value onto a trailer hooked to a pickup owned by James Ecternach, of Red Oak. Govig is accused of leaving the scene with the stolen items and pickup and trailer which was later found to have been involved in an accident in Mills County. Mills County authorities located Govig and he was arrested and taken to the Mills County Jail.
The Mills and Montgomery County Sheriff’s Offices and the Iowa State Patrol, involved in a joint investigation, recovered all the stolen items.
