(Des Moines) A Wind Chill Advisory remains in effect until noon today for Cass, Adair, Madison, Adams, and Union Counties.
The National Weather Service says northwest winds at 5-to15 miles per hour are expected this morning and will last until about noon. Widespread wind chill values will be 15-to-20 below zero.
Forecasters are warning that exposed skin will quickly freeze in these conditions.
A Wind Chill Advisory means that very cold air and wind will combine to generate low wind chills. This will result in frost bite and lead to hypothermia if precautions are not taken. If you must be outside, makes sure you wear proper winter clothing along with a hat and gloves. Pets should be brought inside.
