(Atlantic) Wednesday's snow fall puts the winter total for Atlantic very close to an average winter through the end of January.
State Climatologist Harry Hillaker says nearly all of the snowfall has come in two events. The first was right before Christmas and the second was Tuesday night into yesterday morning.
"So far this winter Atlantic at 13.5" of snowfall, that's actually fairly close to normal. Normal up to this time of year is 14.8".
As far as the average temperatures for the month of January, Hillaker says this year is warmer than normal, but not by much.
"Running about three degrees normal than warmer so far in January. January's tend to be quite variable from year to year."
January of 2013 has been cooler than the January of 2012 which was seven degrees above normal.
Several Communities across the state broke record highs in the early morning hours Tuesday before the snow came late Tuesday night.
