(ATLANTIC) The Cass County Board of Supervisors approved a resolution for posted weight limits on bridges at their meeting this morning.
“Our Consultant goes around and looks at all the bridges each year, in addition to the regular report we also get a report whether structurally it has changed where we need to do new postings and if we do that has to be authorized through a resolution by the Board of Supervisors,” explained Charles Marker, Cass County Engineer. “We currently have 46 bridges which are or will need to be posted, so we need that resolution approved and those that have changed we will change those bridge postings on.”
The Supervisors also awarded a contract to the low bidder, Murphy Heavy Contracting Corp. of Anita, for bridge #345, the “Hopley Bridge” over the Nishnabotna River on Lansing Road. The bid totaled $963,825.75 which came in below the Engineer’s estimate.
In other activity, the Supervisors set February 13th and February 20th as dates for public hearings on a proposed amendment of the Cass County Zoning Ordinance regarding gun sales and an indoor shooting range.
