(Shenandoah) A Lytton Iowa woman escaped serious injury after being trapped in her vehicle submerged in a pond.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office says 77-year-old Delores Louis Ellis, was traveling northbound on Highway 59 near 320th Street when she hit a patch of ice and lost control. The vehicle left the road and became submerged in a roadside pond up to the rear doors with Ellis trapped inside.
Ellis was helped from the vehicle by Shenandoah Fire and Rescue and transported to the Shenandoah Memorial Hospital to be checked out.
The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Page County Sheriff’s Office, Shenandoah Fire and Rescue, and the Atchison County Sheriff’s Department.
