(Des Moines) A Winter Storm Warning continues this morning until noon for the area counties of Adair, Madison, Adams, Union, and Taylor.
According to the National Weather Service snow will continue to advance across Iowa this morning. The heaviest amounts are likely before 9:00 a.m. west of Interstate 35, between 6:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. east of Interstate 35. Snow will taper off to flurries by noon with total accumulations of 3-to5-inches. Winds will increase out of the north, northwest, at 20-to-30-miles per hour with gusts as high as 40-miles per hour this morning.
Snow will freeze on road surfaces due to the warm ground at the start. As winds increase blowing snow will become more of a problem. With falling temperatures the snow will become drier and will blow more easily. Visibility may fall to zero at times in open areas.
