(Area) Craig Cogil with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says cold air will move into the Atlantic area and snow will accumulate to 1-3" during the overnight hours on Tuesday. He tells KSOM/KS95.7 news that snow will start to blow around in the early morning hours. There is also the possibility of ice underneath the snow.
"There is some concern that the warmer temperatures melting alot of the snow plus light rain prior to that snow fall freezing as we get those colder temperatures and producing a layer of ice as that snow falls. So that certainly could produce more hazardous travel conditions than we normally see."
Cogil says the overnight time frame will probably be the worst of the weather. The strong winds in the morning will provide difficult travel conditions.
