(Atlantic) Atlantic Police Chief Steve Green has deemed the first in-town deer hunt in Atlantic as innefective. 41 people fulfilled the requirements to hunt in town however only 8 actually applied to hunt and just 1 hunter harvested any deer. That one hunter took two does. Chief Green speculates a variety of reasons that hunters may have turned away from hunting inside the city limits and says the program may be tweaked in the future.
"I have suggested to the council that for every deer taken in town we reimburse the person for the tag to be able to hunt that doe. That would be a fairly cheap program since they are doing us a public service."
