(Atlantic) The Cass County Sheriff's Office is hosting an advanced roadside impaired driving enforcement class at the Atlantic Fire Station today.
Cass County Deputy Ben Bartholmew says around 20-law enforcement officers from different parts of southwest Iowa will be on hand for the class today and tomorrow.
Bartholomew says every officer is trained and certified through the law enforcement academy on how to administer the standard field sobriety test. He says this class will provide a legal update for court purposes and additional training to help build proficiency in field sobriety testing.
Deputy Bartholomew says officers will also be gaining knowledge to identify impairments from drugs other than alcohol.
