WORKOUTS MAYBE TO BLAME FOR A DOZEN SICKENED IOWA FOOTBALL PLAYERS
(Iowa City) The University of Iowa says 12-football players have been hospitalized for symtoms likely related to offseason workouts.
In a statement released Tuesday, the players were taken to University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics on Monday night, and their conditions were non-life threatening.
Head Coach Kirk Ferentz was out of town recruiting. Former Iowa Offensive Lineman Julian Vander Velde is a member of the leadership team. He defended Iowa's workout stating that the players health is their number one priority. He said "workouts are never used to punish".
