(Red Oak) A man wanted in Missouri is in custody in Montgomery County after he fled from Police earlier this morning.
Red Oak Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of North Broadway and West Joy Street at around 12:03 a.m. During the stop the defendant identified as Jason Christopher Sipes, exited the vehicle and fled on foot eastbound. Police chased him to North 1st Street and ordered him several times to stop but he continued to run. Eventually an officer caught up with Sipes and knocked him to the ground with a tazer gun. Sipes was taken into custody without incident.
An investigation revealed that Sipes had a valid warrant through the state of Missouri. He is being held at the Montgomery County Law Enforcement Center on no bond and is awaiting extradition to Missouri.
The Red Oak Police Department was assisted by the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Sheriff’s K-9 Unit.
