(Atlantic) The Atlantic Girls Sports “Mascot” nickname appears to have lost its popularity among AHS students. School Officials are considering dropping the Trojann logo to Trojan.
“This all started when we had a mix up on a girls uniform that came back as Trojans instead of Trojanns,” stated Atlantic Activities Director Josh Rasmussen. “The girls said we don’t want to be different we want to be the same as the boys across the board at the high school.
So the student council asked Mr. Rasmussen to conduct a survey. “So we surveyed the 9th through 11th grade students and a little of 70-percent of the surveys that came back wanted to be the Trojans.”
“The student council is going to discuss this at their next meeting and if they decide to make a recommendation they are going to take it to the next school board meeting,” said Rasmussen.
The survey also included adding additional activities at the high school such as swimming, bowling, archery and dancing. Rasmussen says bowling had slightly more interest according to the survey compared to the other three.
