(Council Bluffs) The boil advisory in Council Bluffs has been lifted. Council Bluffs Water Works held a press conference Thursday afternoon. CEO Doug Drummey:
"The boil advisory was lifted at 1:15 this afternoon, so it's business as usual."
Drummey explains the reasoning for the original advisory.
"We had a catastrophic water main break that occured wednesday morning on a 24 inch diameter water main, the result of that was a low pressure situation on the west side of Council Bluffs."
That created concerns about contamination.
"We believed that we had to take the precaution of issuing a boil water advisory until we could collect water samples to verify that the water system had not been compromised and that there was no contamination in the water."
Drummey thanks the way the community pulled together and cooperated with what needed to be done to protect public health.
