(RED OAK) The Red Oak Police Department took numerous reports of vehicle burglaries today (Wednesday).
Red Oak Police received a complaint from 56-year-old Sheryl Franzen, of Red Oak, reporting that two of her vehicles, a 2005 Chevrolet Classic and a 1992 Mercury Marquis, had been broken into overnight. Following the discovery of these burglaries, six other complaints were received. Red Oak Police say the burglaries occurred throughout several areas of the community.
While conducting the investigation, a call was received from a subject residing near Griswold who advised police that he had been in Red Oak and when returning to the Griswold area he observed a black and gray colored plastic box on the Nishnabotna Bridge north of Red Oak on Highway 48. It was discovered that several items in the box were identified as belonging to Casey Wenstrand, of Red Oak. These items had been removed by the suspect(s) from a vehicle registered to John Wenstrand. The items will be examined for further evidence.
