(Washington) Iowa Congressman Tom Latham voted against the bill to avert the fiscal cliff, saying it doesn’t address overspending and will be harmful to job creation. He says one reason why jobs are going overseas is because of old tax policies.
“We are still going to be working on comprehensive tax reform to make us competitive in a world market,” stated Latham. “That is what needs to be done because we are not competitive world wide. We’ve got to have a situation where the United States businesses can in fact grow and prosper here.”
Regarding the farm bill, Latham says’ he is hopeful that most issues have been resolved. He says the bill that was passed, does allow for enough time to complete work on a new farm bill.
