(Des Moines) The Iowa State Patrol has released information regarding just how busy the agency was late last week during the blizzard. The Patrol went back to log books to find out just how much help it was asked to provide.
According to the report, from 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, to 3:00 p.m. on Friday December 21, 384 emergency calls came in to the agency via help lines, 9-1-1 and wireless transmissions. Troopers were involved in covering 195 crashes including three fatality accidents in Hamilton, Sioux and Pottawattamie Counties. There were 563 calls for motorist’s assistance and the patrol passed on 92 calls for two truck services.
The Patrol notes that emergency calls it received are likely higher than the number provided because there were several, incidents of numerous calls provided because there were several incidents of numerous calls being made about the same accident pr tie up.
