(Audubon) Audubon County road crews are battling white out conditions and snow drifts. Audubon County Engineer Mitch Rydll encourages the public to refrain from traveling.
"There is a lot of snow and I advise no travel," state Rydl. "The snow plows are out clearing the highways but have running into a problem getting through the drifts so we have maintainers helping with those."
Rydl says it has been reported to him that F58 between Exira and Elk Horn is open and F58 east of Exira to I80 is now open as well.
Rydl says even the heavy snow removal equipment were fighting the elements this morning.
"And three of those got stuff or slid off the road," Rydl said. "It's not good out there and many of the roads we do clear are blowing back in."
Rydll says snowplows will continue to work throughout the afternoon.
