(Des Moines) The Blizzard warning remains in effect until noon today.
Frank Boksa, with the National Weather Service in Des Moines says the snow is starting to taper off, however northwest winds are very strong with sustained wind speeds of 30-to-40 miles per hour with gusts over 50-miles per hour. The wind is expected to continue at 20-25 miles per hour throughout the afternoon.
So far we have recieved 5 1/2 inches of snow, the Des Moines Airport 10-inches, and Johnston, 12.8 inches
White out conditions will continue for much of this morning and into early afternoon.
