(COUNCIL BLUFFS) A Council Bluffs man was shot in the chest this morning.
The Council Bluffs Police Department says an officer noticed a vehicle driving recklessly at around 11:30 am and stopped the vehicle in the 700 block of 7th Avenue. The passenger in the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Charles Duncan, approached the Officer and said that he had been shot in the chest. Duncan was transported to Creighton Hospital.
Further investigation revealed that Duncan and his sister were test driving a car earlier and had stopped in the parking lot of Goofy’s Bar and Grill at 807 South 21st Street to switch driver’s When Duncan got out of the passenger side and began to walk toward the driver’s side, a car pulled into the parking lot and one of the occupants fired two shots at Duncan. The first shot struck the bottom of Duncan’s right sleeve and did not result in any injury. The second shot struck Duncan in the right side of his chest. Duncan’s sister then attempted to get him to a hospital and was subsequently stopped by police.
The suspect vehicle was described as a small, black, newer car with Nebraska plates on it. The suspects were described as white males in their mid 20’s, slightly overweight, with one of them having a beard. The vehicle left northbound on 21st Street.
Duncan and his sister stated that they did know who the men were. Duncan’s injuries are not life threatening and he is expected to be released from the hospital.
