(Exira) With the anticipation of the first major winter storm approaching Exira/EHK Schools Superintendent Dean Schnoes issued these driving points to students that drive to school.
“First of all, SLOW DOWN, there is no reason to be in a hurry about anything,” stated Schnoes. “The second thing is leave a little bit earlier than normal so that you don’t have to drive fast. Third, when you come upon a bridge take your foot off of the accelerator and let things slow down from that standpoint. And finally, STAY OFF YOUR PHONE WHILE DRIVING.”
Schnoes adds that he realizes students want to drive to school but when weather likes this comes up there is nothing wrong with riding the school bus.
“We want to provide the best safety for people and I would rather make a day up than have the possibility of having a severe accident,” said Schnoes. “We try and make the best call that we can with the information.”
