(Atlantic) The flu has arrived in Cass County.
Denise Coder, Site Manager for Cass County Home Care says the first case of Influenza B virus was confirmed over the weekend. Coder says Influenza B is one of the least common strains circulating in the state Cass County just happens to have it, and Coder thinks it will be just a matter of time when the Influenza A strain will show up in the County.
“The message is that flu has arrived in Cass County and if you haven’t received an influenza vaccination for the year, it is very important that you go out and get one as soon as possible,” stated Coder. “And it takes a couple of weeks for that immunity to settle in so it is pretty important to go out and get that protection.”
Coder says if a person recognizes these symptoms within a day or so it may be possible to receive an anti-viral that will help lessen the duration and severity of the disease.
Coder says she believes that most health care providers will have the flu vaccine available.
