(HARLAN) A Kirkman man faces numerous charges following a scuffle with a Harlan Police Officer Thursday afternoon.
While on patrol, a Harlan Police officer saw 24-year-old Kurtis Kobold, who had an active warrant, at a business in the 600 block of Durant Street. The officer approached Kobold and after a brief verbal exchange Kobold fled on foot running east with the officer in pursuit. The officer tackled Kobold, who continued to fight. Two Shelby County deputies responded to the scene. During the scuffle a loaded .38 revolver that had been on Kobold’s person, was located by the Police Officer and eventually secured. Kobold was arrested and transported to the Shelby County Jail. The officer received minor wounds from the fight and was later treated and released.
Kobold was charged with Outstanding Warrant, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Assault on a Peace Officer, Possession of a Controlled Substance with Intent to Deliver, Interference with Official Acts, and Carrying Weapons. He was held on $100,000 bond.
