(Audubon) The Audubon Public Library can now take applications for passports on behalf of the U.S. Department of State. Library Director Gail Richardson says they are pleased to offer this service to the public and keep the Passport Application Acceptance Program available in Audubon County.
“This will allow the public to stay within the county to get their passports and so they won’t have to travel to adjoining counties to receive this service,” stated Richardson. “
Richardson says a passport costs $110.00, plus another $25.00 fee for the acceptance agency. “If you have an expired passport and it’s within the last fifteen years, all you have to do is come in and renew it.”
Richardson says the Audubon Public Library is taking on this new venture after government regulations forced the Audubon County Recorder's office to give up this service. So if you are planning any international travel you may visit the library to apply Monday through Friday from 2 to 5 pm.
