Last week, the Salvation Army opened its doors in a new location at 1600 E. 7th Street in Atlantic. The Atlantic Area Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors attended the soft opening Thursday with a steady crowd of shoppers. The growth in facilities and addition of becoming a processing center has added the need for 7 to 10 additional employees. Major Laurence McPherson explained that the funds raised through sales at their stores go to support the drug and alcohol rehabilitation facilities which are one division of the Salvation Army.
