(Atlantic) Work is underway on the Schildberg Recration Area campground site located north of Atlantic. Parks and Recreation director Roger Herring gave a report to the City Council last night,
"Through lots of discussion and planning the campground is coming to a reality as the grading for the campground has been taking place this week. The base for the road and the camping pads may be partially in place this fall and completed this spring. Things are starting to take shape at the campgrounds.
Herring reported the walking area has been heavily utilized at the Schildberg Recreation Area.
"It's become a very popular place for many in our community to walk and exercise."
Fishing has increased as well with improved accesibility.
Once the campground is finished it will have 18 pads. Herring says he typically gets 4-5 calls per week from people inquiring about a place to camp.
