(Anita) An Iowa State Patrol Trooper seized 16.5 pounds of high grade marijuana from a vehicle on Interstate 80 in Cass County Monday morning.
According to a press release from the Iowa State Patrol, Trooper Wayne Brosam stopped a 1996 Chevrolet Gladiator conversion van displaying Illinois license plates for speeding at the 62 mile marker at around 7:54 a.m. Monday.
Brosam says he observed numerous indicators of criminal activity during a conversation with the driver, 53-year-old Tramaine Mccray. Brosam says during the conversation in his patrol car he observed several indicators of criminal activity and was given verbal consent from Mccray to search the vehicle
Trooper Brosam discovered the marijuana in a natural void in the headliner of the vehicle during a hand search.
Mccray and a passenger in the vehicle identified as 32-year-old Demetrius Johnson were both charged with possession of Marijuana, with intent to deliver, Prohibited Acts and a Drug Stamp Violation. The two were held on $5,000 bond. Both men bonded out.
