(Atlantic) Officials from the Atlantic Municipal Utilities will present their 2013 budget to the Atlantic City Council for their approval this evening.
The total budget for 2013 is up 12.1-percent from the current year. The biggest factors seem to be a 35-percent increase in electric production costs and 21.1-percent increase in the cost of electric transmission. According to the news media AMU’s budget report indicates that their fund balance will decline by $431,000 or 9.2-percent despite the proposed rate increases. Despite these increases AMU Officials utility rates will still be lower than the regional average.
The Council will be asked at their meeting that starts at 5:30 p.m. to accept their budget this evening.
