(Council Bluffs) The $22.5 million Iowa Western Community College bond issue passed Tuesday. According to the Pottawattamie County Auditor’s Office, 76.4-percent of the voters said yes, or 4,511 in favor to 1,395 against. A 60-percent super majority was needed to pass the measure that gives the go ahead to remodel, Erect and equip buildings at the main campus and other enrollment locations.
Those improvements include; creating extra space for the design technology program and high speed internet at the Atlantic Campus. In Harlan, funds will go towards an addition to the campus to allow space for additional science and math classes. In Shenandoah, the funds will be used for a new exterior onto the building to improve energy efficiency. And in Clarinda, the money will be used for HVAC units and repairing roofs.
The bond issue was up for vote in Adair, Adams, Audubon, Cass, Crawford, Fremont, Harrison, Mills, Montgomery, Page, Pottawattamie and Shelby Counties.
